Drops of God Anime Series Begins on April 10: New Cast Members Join

Get ready for the depths of the wine world and a sensory competition! The release date for the long-awaited Drops of God (Kami no Shizuku) TV anime series has been officially announced as April 10, 2026. Produced by Satelight studio and stated to run for two "cours" (approximately 24-26 episodes), the series is preparing to glue both wine enthusiasts and drama lovers to their screens. With the latest announcement, it has been confirmed that talented names such as Lynn (Sara), Akihiko Ishizumi (Kawarage), Soshiro Hori (Chosuke Honma), and Konomi Kohara (Laurent) have joined the voice cast.
One of the most striking details of the series is the choice of the lead actor. Famous actor and singer Kazuya Kamenashi, who played the character Shizuku Kanzaki in the 2009 live-action Japanese drama, will breathe life into the same character with his voice in the anime version, 17 years later. Kamenashi is accompanied by Takuya Sato in the role of his rival Issei Tomine and Maaya Uchida in the role of Miyabi Shinohara. Kenji Itoso sits in the director's chair, while the series' music is composed by Eishi Segawa.
The original manga, written by Tadashi Agi (the pen name of siblings Shin and Yuko Kibayashi) and illustrated by Shu Okimoto, became a global phenomenon when it was published between 2004 and 2014. The story follows the relentless competition between Shizuku, who must find the "Twelve Apostles" and the mysterious "Drops of God" wine to inherit his father's massive wine collection worth 12 billion yen, and his father's adopted son, a genius wine critic. During its publication, the manga directly influenced wine sales in Asia and France, even causing the prices of some boutique wines to skyrocket overnight, creating a major cultural impact in the international market.
For anime fans, this adaptation promises not just a gourmet story, but also a visual feast. The series, which will also be broadcast simultaneously on Crunchyroll, will combine the manga's famous poetic wine descriptions with modern animation techniques. Following the successful 2023 Apple TV+ series, this first anime adaptation aims to carry the series' legacy to a new generation of viewers. With the big premiere on April 10, we can say that glasses will be raised for the world of animation this time.
