Main Trailer Released for the Final Film 'Dear Friend' of the Rascal Does Not Dream Series

The long-awaited main trailer for Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend (Seishun Buta Yarou wa Dear Friend no Yume o Minai) has finally been released. The new footage offers exciting hints about what awaits us in the series' final film. Additionally, a large-sized visual specially prepared for the film has begun to be displayed at the Bic Camera Fujisawa store in Tokyo.
The film adapts the tenth and final volume of Hajime Kamoshida's light novel series of the same name. The story tells the final act of the supernatural 'Pubertal Syndrome' incidents faced by high school student Sakuta Azusagawa and his girlfriend Mai Sakurajima. This time, the toughest test awaiting Sakuta and his friends will be confronting the past and dealing with loss. The trailer highlights emotional moments and the series' signature dialogue.
The Rascal Does Not Dream series, written by Kamoshida, began its light novel journey in 2014 and was adapted into an anime by CloverWorks in 2018. The story expanded with the subsequent films Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl (2019), Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out (2023), and Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid (2023). Now, with Dear Friend, Sakuta and Mai's journey finally comes to an end. Directed by Sōichi Masui, the film serves as a farewell to the series' fans with its visual and emotional storytelling.
This film holds great significance, especially for viewers who have followed the series from the beginning. The depth and emotional connection Kamoshida has added to the characters promise a conclusion where all questions will be answered.
