CloverWorks Reports Net Loss of 38 Million Yen for Fiscal Year Ending March 2026

CloverWorks announced its financial results for the fiscal year ending March 2026. One of the most notable studios in the anime industry, CloverWorks recorded a net loss of 38 million yen in the past fiscal year. This figure indicates a significant deterioration in the studio's financial balance compared to the previous year.
The studio had recently produced major works such as "Spy x Family", "Bocchi the Rock!", "Horimiya", and "The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity". However, high production costs, increasing expectations for animation quality, and intense competition in the industry seem to have negatively affected CloverWorks' profitability. It is noted that long-running and visually demanding projects like "The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity" especially strained the budget.
CloverWorks was established in 2018 as a spin-off of A-1 Pictures and soon made a name for itself with works like "Wonder Egg Priority" and "Fate/Grand Order - Absolute Demonic Front - Babylonia". However, this success brought with it high expectations and large-budget projects. Industry analysts suggest that this loss may be temporary and that the studio has a chance to recover with new projects to be released in the coming period.
CloverWorks' financial situation also reflects the general economic difficulties of the Japanese anime industry. Rising labor costs, digital infrastructure investments, and changing consumption habits after the pandemic are affecting many studios. Still, CloverWorks has a strong distribution network under Aniplex and a loyal fan base. New projects expected to be announced in the coming months could play a key role in improving the studio's financial situation.
Fans hope that CloverWorks will overcome this difficult period and rise again. The studio's next financial report, for the year ending March 2027, will be eagerly awaited by everyone following the industry's pulse.
