New Live-Action Street Fighter Movie is Coming: Here is the First Trailer and Star-Studded Cast!

Considered the forefather of fighting games, Street Fighter is preparing to open a new chapter in the world of cinema! The long-awaited first full trailer and character posters for the new live-action film, brought to life through a collaboration between Legendary Entertainment and Capcom, have finally been shared. Distributed by Paramount Pictures, the film will hit theaters on October 16, 2026, taking fans back to the fighting arenas.
The film's cast is truly a star-studded affair. Andrew Koji, known for the series Warrior, takes on the role of the iconic character Ryu, while Noah Centineo appears as his old friend and rival Ken Masters. The cast also includes names such as Callina Liang as Chun-Li, Cody Rhodes as Guile, and David Dastmalchian as M. Bison. One of the biggest surprises is that Jason Momoa will bring Blanka to life, while Roman Reigns will play the character Akuma. The story will take us back to 1993 and follow Chun-Li as she brings Ryu and Ken together for a mysterious tournament called the World Warrior Tournament.
The production process for the project has been quite dynamic, with Kitao Sakurai, known for Bad Trip and The Eric Andre Show, sitting in the director's chair. Although the project initially started with Talk to Me directors Danny and Michael Philippou, Sakurai took the helm after the duo departed from the project. The film was initially planned by Sony Pictures for March 2026, but after Legendary's new deal with Paramount, the release date was moved to October 2026. The neon-lit atmosphere in the trailer and the character designs that stay true to the games have already created great excitement on social media.
This new attempt will be the third major live-action feature film in the Street Fighter series. The 1994 film starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and the 2009 film The Legend of Chun-Li were not well-received by fans. However, the massive success of the Street Fighter 6 game and Legendary's seriousness regarding video game adaptations suggest that a much higher-quality production awaits us this time. If everything goes well, a real "Hadoken" storm will blow through movie theaters in the fall of 2026!
