LIAR GAME Anime Gets New Voice: Jun Fukuyama Brings Nearco to Life

LIAR GAME anime adaptation has added another important name to its cast. According to Japanese news site Natalie, Jun Fukuyama will bring the character Nearco to life in the series adapted from Shinobu Kaitani's legendary manga. Fukuyama is known for iconic roles such as Lelouch vi Britannia in Code Geass and Joker in Persona 5.
Along with the announcement, Fukuyama's comment on the recording process was also shared. The artist said, "Being part of this project is really exciting. Every time I step into the recording sessions, I feel like this is truly fun!" Although Nearco's role in the story has not yet been fully revealed, it is noted that the character stands out with clever moves and dark secrets.
LIAR GAME is a psychological thriller manga written by Shinobu Kaitani, serialized in Weekly Young Jump from 2005 to 2015. The series follows university student Nao Kanzaki, known for her honesty, as she participates in deception games organized by a mysterious organization. The manga is completed in 19 volumes, and was adapted into a successful live-action TV series in 2007 and a film in 2010. The anime adaptation was first announced at the end of 2024, generating great anticipation among fans.
This new voice announcement shows that the production of the series is progressing rapidly. The addition of a voice actor as experienced and widely popular as Fukuyama is a significant sign of the production's quality.
