'From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman' Season 2: New Promotional Video and Voice Cast

A new promotional video has been released for the second season of the anime adaptation of From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman. According to Anime News Network's article dated August 14, 2026, Kenshō Ono and Sumire Uesaka are the new names joining the second season's voice cast.
The new trailer offers fans glimpses of the story's continuation and also shows that the cast is expanding. Kenshō Ono is known for the roles of Giorno Giovanna in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and Yuri Katsuki in Yuri!!! on Ice; Sumire Uesaka is a name well known to anime fans for her performance as Sanae Dekomori in Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions! The inclusion of these two actors shows that the sequel season is moving forward assertively on the voice-acting front.
At the core of the series lies the light novel written by Shigeru Sagazaki and illustrated by Tetsuhiro Nabeshima, along with its manga adaptation. The story follows Beryl Gardinant, a retired sword instructor in a rural area, who becomes the center of attention once again as his former students turn into legends. Wanting nothing more than a peaceful life, Beryl is forced to take up his sword again when the country's strongest warriors begin seeking him out. The production, whose first season aired in 2025, drew great interest especially from fans of hidden-master-themed fantasy stories.
The official release date for the second season has not been confirmed yet. However, the sharing of a promotional video this early is interpreted as a sign that production is progressing rapidly. In the coming period, new character introductions, a release date announcement, and perhaps a video about the full voice cast can be expected. It seems it will be quite a busy period for fans of From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman.
