Saint Seiya Fever at McDonald's Japan: 40th Anniversary "Cosmos" Themed Menus Are Coming

Japan's fast-food giant McDonald's has announced that it is joining forces with Saint Seiya (Knights of the Zodiac), one of the most established and beloved works in the anime world. According to the official announcement made on May 14, 2026, special menus prepared in honor of the series' 40th anniversary will be available at restaurants across Japan starting May 20. Promoted with the slogan "Burn your Cosmos!", this campaign targets both old fans seeking nostalgia and new-generation viewers.
The menu offered as part of the collaboration highlights three main burgers inspired by different regions of Japan: Hokkaido Jaga Cheese Teriyaki (potato and cheese), Nagoya Meibutsu Tebasakifu (black pepper chicken wing flavor), and Hakata Mentai Butter Teriyaki (cod roe and butter). Additionally, a special McMuffin for breakfast and french fries seasoned with the famous black curry of the Kanazawa region have been included in the menu. All products will be served in limited-edition packaging decorated with illustrations of Pegasus Seiya and other Bronze Saints.
The campaign's promotional strategy is just as remarkable as the menu. In the commercials, popular Japanese comedian Seiya Ishikawa (from the duo Shimofuri Myojo) appears on camera wearing the Pegasus Seiya armor himself. Singing a parody version of the series' iconic opening song "Pegasus Fantasy," the comedian provides fun moments for fans. Beyond just being a food menu, this collaboration honors the cultural legacy of the legend that series creator Masami Kurumada started in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1985.
Saint Seiya has sold over 50 million copies worldwide.
