Good News for Hibike! Euphonium Fans: Quick Japan Magazine Features the Series on Its Cover

Hibike! Euphonium (Sound! Euphonium), one of the most beloved productions by Kyoto Animation, is the subject of an extensive special feature in the Quick Japan vol. 183 issue, to be published on April 14. Famous artist Tomoyo Kurosawa, who voices the series' lead character Kumiko Oumae, visited her own high school as part of this special issue. This segment, which blends Kurosawa's memories of her old school with the world of the series, aims to offer fans a perspective that is both nostalgic and sincere.
This special feature comes right after the premiere of the series' highly anticipated 3rd season (Kumiko's senior year of high school) on the NHK Educational channel on April 7, 2024. Adapted from Ayano Takeda's novels, the production explores Kumiko's dream of winning a gold medal at the national competition as the band club president and the final moments of her high school life. In the new season, new characters such as the mysterious transfer student Mayu Kuroe, voiced by Haruka Tomatsu, are also joining the story, heating up the competition.
The Hibike! Euphonium journey, which began in 2015, has carved a unique place for itself in the anime world with Kyoto Animation's meticulous visuals and realistic musical performances. The universe, which has expanded with two television seasons, artistic side stories like Liz and the Blue Bird, and sequel films like Our Promise: A Brand New Day, reflects the pains of youth and the passion for an instrument in its purest form. This special content in Quick Japan carries collectible value for fans by focusing on the emotional bond the voice actors have established with their characters rather than just the technical details of the series.
This issue of the magazine will feature not only Kurosawa's visit but also interviews with the production team as the series heads toward its finale. As the final season, which will consist of 13 episodes, prepares to conclude the long-standing struggle of the Kitauji High School Concert Band, such special publications make the viewers' farewell to the series more meaningful. If you have also grown up with Kumiko's phrase "and the next piece begins," we recommend adding this special feature, which will be released on April 14, to your follow list.
