Hiromu Arakawa's New Legend Yomi no Tsugai Prepares for the Anime World: The "Gabu" Pose Is Set to Shake Up Social Media!

The latest masterpiece from Hiromu Arakawa, creator of the legendary Fullmetal Alchemist series, Yomi no Tsugai (Daemons of the Shadow Realm), is preparing to drop like a bombshell on the anime world. On March 29, 2026, a special panel was held for the series' highly anticipated anime adaptation at the AnimeJapan 2026 event. Meeting fans at Tokyo Big Sight, the voice cast made candid remarks about the series' atmosphere and character dynamics.
The most notable moment of the panel was when famous actor Kensho Ono, who voices the main character Yuru, claimed that the unique "Gabu" (biting) pose of the character Gabu-chan from the series would become a major trend on social media. Joking with Misaki Kuno, who brings the character Gabu-chan to life, Ono excited fans by saying, "This pose is definitely going to blow up!" The event also featured Yume Miyamoto in the role of Asa and Yuichi Nakamura in the role of Dera, who spoke about the depths of their characters.
Starting its publication in Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine in December 2021, Yomi no Tsugai tells the story of Yuru, who lives in a remote mountain village, and his twin sister Asa, who is mysteriously kept in a cell. This modern fantasy world, shaped around the supernatural beings known as "Tsugai" (Pairs/Guardians), combines Hiromu Arakawa's unique humor with intense action scenes. Following giant works like Fullmetal Alchemist and Silver Spoon, this new universe by Arakawa has already gained cult status among manga readers.
This adaptation holds great importance for the anime world; because Arakawa's storytelling is known for her mastery in handling complex moral dilemmas and strong character bonds. The Yomi no Tsugai anime is expected to be one of the most talked-about productions of 2026 with its studio quality and voice acting performances. Fans seem ready to imitate Gabu-chan's iconic moves while unraveling the mystery between Yuru and Asa.
