Fuji TV Announces New Webtoon Label TOON8: Aims for 'Revenge Assassin Doll' Anime Adaptation

Fuji TV, as one of Japan's leading television channels, officially announced its new Webtoon label TOON8 (read: Toon Eight) at a launch event held at its headquarters in Tokyo on June 5, 2025. At the event, voice actress Ai Furihata, BALLISTIK BOYZ from EXILE TRIBE member Ryusei Kainuma, musician Zuma (Nijiiro Zamurai), and producer Imamura (Fumoa) came together to share the vision of the new platform.
TOON8 is being launched as part of Fuji TV's digital content investments. The most notable announcement at the event was that work has begun on an anime adaptation of the Webtoon 'Revenge Assassin Doll' (İntikamcı Suikastçı Bebek), which will be published under the label. Although a detailed release schedule for the series has not yet been announced, this move by Fuji TV shows that it is taking a serious step into the global Webtoon market, going beyond traditional broadcasting.
Webtoons have gained a huge global audience in recent years, especially with the success of South Korea-based platforms like Naver Webtoon and Kakao Webtoon. Fuji TV's entry into this field is a sign that Japanese media giants are also turning to the digital comic format. 'Revenge Assassin Doll' stands out with its revenge and action-themed story; although detailed information about its author and artist has not yet been shared, the goal of adapting the series into an anime in a short time reveals how ambitious the project is.
Fuji TV's goal with TOON8 is to reach both domestic and international readers. Producer Imamura, speaking at the event, said, "Webtoons' flexibility in storytelling and visual language are very suitable for anime. As Fuji TV, we want to build this bridge." In the coming period, new series are expected to be announced under TOON8. Which studio will handle the anime adaptation of 'Revenge Assassin Doll' and its release date are among the eagerly awaited developments.
