Global Price Increase Coming for Nintendo Switch 2 and Other Products

Nintendo, one of the giants of the gaming world, has made an important price adjustment decision that closely concerns players. The company announced that it will implement price increases for its next-generation console, the **Nintendo Switch 2**, as well as for existing **Switch** models and **Nintendo Switch Online** subscription services in Japan. These global price hikes are attributed to various factors, including supply shortages in memory components and general market conditions.
The new prices and effective dates set for the **Nintendo Switch 2** vary by region. In the US, the console's price will increase from $449.99 to $499.99 starting September 1, 2026. In Canada, the price will rise from 629.99 CAD to 679.99 CAD. In Europe, the price of the **Switch 2** sold through the My Nintendo Store will increase from 469.99 Euros to 499.99 Euros. In Japan, the increases will take effect earlier, on May 25, 2026, and the console's price will go from 49,980 Yen to 59,980 Yen. The **Nintendo Switch 2** was unveiled on January 16, 2025, and launched on June 5, 2025, with an initial price of $450.
Price increases are not limited to the new console. Existing **Nintendo Switch** models and **Nintendo Switch Online** subscription fees in the Japanese market are also affected by the hikes. Starting May 25, 2026, the **Switch OLED** model will increase from 37,980 Yen to 47,980 Yen, the standard **Nintendo Switch** from 32,978 Yen to 43,980 Yen, and the **Nintendo Switch Lite** from 21,978 Yen to 29,980 Yen. **Nintendo Switch Online** subscription fees will also be applied at increased rates in Japan starting July 1, 2026. A 12-month individual membership will go from 2,400 Yen to 3,000 Yen, and the family plan from 4,500 Yen to 5,800 Yen. Subscriptions including the Expansion Pack will also see similar increases.
