Opening Movie for Sōhei Niikawa's New Game Demons' Night Fever Featuring syudou Released

Demons' Night Fever countdown has begun! The highly anticipated opening movie for the new game from Disgaea series' legendary creator Sōhei Niikawa has been released. While the video showcases the game's wild and dark atmosphere, it was also officially announced that the opening song is performed by popular artist syudou. The game will meet players on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC (Steam) on October 22, 2026.
The released opening movie clearly reflects the gothic and punk-inspired art style of Demons' Night Fever. Drawing attention with its fast editing, demonic character designs, and neon-lit cityscapes, the video shows that Niikawa has maintained his signature humorous and over-the-top style. The song accompanying the video is a true syudou classic; with energetic vocals, distorted guitars, and a catchy chorus, it perfectly complements the game's chaotic spirit. syudou is known for viral hits like "Usseewa" and "Odo," which he previously wrote for Ado, and has also produced theme songs for anime such as Chainsaw Man and My Hero Academia.
This project holds special significance for Sōhei Niikawa. Having served as president of Nippon Ichi Software for many years and creating strategy RPG classics such as Disgaea, Phantom Brave, and La Pucelle: Tactics, Niikawa left the company in 2023 to begin his own independent journey. Demons' Night Fever marks his first original game in this new era. According to available information, the game is being developed as a strategy RPG with roguelite elements, and it centers on players controlling a group of characters trying to survive in a city filled with demons that awaken at night. In previous statements, Niikawa described the game as "a combination of Disgaea's absurdity with a darker, more adult world."
The game's October 22 release date also falls in a highly strategic period. Arriving just before the Halloween season, it perfectly aligns with the game's demonic and night-themed concept. Demons' Night Fever is poised to be one of the year's most notable independent Japanese games for both Niikawa fans and syudou followers. The game's Steam page is already live, and pre-orders are expected to begin in the coming weeks. More gameplay videos and character introductions are planned to be shared during September.
