Silent Hill: Townfall Returns to First-Person Perspective and Takes Place in Scotland

Silent Hill: Townfall returns to the series' roots by adopting a first-person perspective once again. According to a preview article published by Anime News Network, the game preserves the series' classic psychological horror elements while blending its story with Scottish culture and folklore. This marks the first time a town from another country is central to the Silent Hill universe.
The game's developer No Code is known for atmospheric, narrative-driven titles such as Stories Untold and Observation. The studio heads state that Scotland's mystical and gloomy atmosphere perfectly complements Silent Hill's horror language. As expressed in the preview: "Silent Hill: Townfall leaves more questions than answers, but in a good way – the Scottish setting and cultural background really excited me."
The Silent Hill series has produced trendsetting horror titles since its first game in 1999. However, over the past decade, the series fell silent due to Konami's strategic pause. With the Silent Hill Transmission event held in 2022, the series was revived: the Silent Hill 2 remake, Silent Hill f, and Silent Hill: Townfall were announced simultaneously. Townfall stands out as the most experimental project of this new wave.
The game's setting in Scotland is not merely a change of location. The No Code team integrates Scottish mythology and regional storytelling into the game's structure. Dense fogs, abandoned villages, and oral legends seem to bring fresh air to Silent Hill's familiar horror formula. Preview materials hint that the creatures and puzzles players encounter are inspired by Scottish cultural symbols.
Currently, the release date for Silent Hill: Townfall has not been announced. However, it is expected to launch in the second half of 2026 or early 2027. Fans of the series are preparing to experience both the classic Silent Hill atmosphere and the horror concept of a completely different geography. This game will remain on the radar of horror game enthusiasts as the most original step in Konami's strategy to revive the series.
