The Legend of Heroes: Crossbell Duology Launches on September 10 for Switch 2 and PS5

The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure, the long-awaited Crossbell duology, are stepping into the next generation of consoles. Along with a released trailer, it was announced that the games will launch on September 10, 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5. This release will be available both physically and digitally; moreover, a Crossbell Duology Limited Edition set for collectors will also be on shelves.
This announcement breathes new life into the Crossbell Arc of Falcom's legendary JRPG series. Trails from Zero (2010) and Trails to Azure (2011) originally released on PSP, later ported to PC, PS4, and the original Switch. Now, one of the series' most beloved stories is being revitalized with the power of Switch 2 and PS5. The Limited Edition is rumored to include, in addition to the games, an exclusive art book, soundtrack CD, and a collector's box among other surprises – official details will be shared in the coming days.
For fans of the series, this port represents a long-awaited 'definitive edition'. Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure are connected to the The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel series, delving deeply into Crossbell's political intrigues and character-driven narrative. It is expected to come with improvements such as 60 FPS and faster loading times, especially on next-gen consoles. Moreover, considering that the Nintendo Switch 2 has not yet been officially announced, this release date could be a significant launch title for the console.
So why is this release so important? Because the Crossbell duology is an integral part of Falcom's universe. In Trails from Zero, you meet Lloyd Bannings and his team, while Trails to Azure takes this story to an epic conclusion. Western players were unable to access these games for many years; they were rediscovered thanks to NIS America's translations in 2022-2023. Now, a completely fresh experience is being offered on Switch 2 and PS5. Pre-orders are expected to open soon; it's worth keeping an eye on developments.
