A Giant Leap from Toei Games: KILLA and New Original Games Arriving in 2026!

Toei Company, the parent company of the legendary anime name Toei Animation, is opening a brand new chapter in the gaming industry. The Toei Games brand, established as part of the company's 75th-anniversary celebrations, has officially announced its first original games. KILLA - Kill the “La”, which is seen as the flagship of this new venture and is being developed by the South Korean independent studio Black Tangerine, is preparing to meet players in 2026.
KILLA is described as a 3D mystery-adventure game set in a dark and fantastic puppet theater world. Players will control a young girl named Valhalla, who seeks revenge for her mentor, who served as both a teacher and family to her. The most striking mechanic in the game is the "Resonance" ability; thanks to this ability, we will be able to infiltrate the memories of suspects and piece together the truth. On this mysterious island with nine different suspects, every choice will directly affect the ending of the story.
The other two announced titles, HINO and DEBUG NEPHEMEE, also have themes as unique as KILLA. HINO, developed by UnGloomStudio, is a 2D dark fantasy game that stands out with its unique visuals drawn entirely with ballpoint pens by artist Yatara. DEBUG NEPHEMEE offers an adventure filled with pixel art where we try to clean up a world infected with "bugs." With these projects, Toei aims to create completely new and globally original intellectual properties (IP) rather than just using existing anime brands (like One Piece, Dragon Ball).
Toei Company CEO Fumio Yoshimura stated that this move is part of the "TOEI NEW WAVE 2033" vision. The company plans to transfer its 75 years of experience in film production to the gaming world, aiming to make the gaming sector a third main line of business alongside film and television. These games, which will initially be released for the PC platform via Steam, are expected to come to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles in the future. For anime fans, this will be an exciting opportunity to see what Toei can do not only in animation but also in interactive storytelling.
