Live-Action Film Adaptation of In the Clear Moonlit Dusk Cast Takes Shape: Yuki Yoda and Naoto Fujiki Join the Cast

As Mika Yamamori's globally acclaimed manga In the Clear Moonlit Dusk (Uruwashi no Yoi no Tsuki) is brought to the big screen, the cast is becoming increasingly exciting. According to the latest official announcement, two more important names have joined the film's cast: Yuki Yoda, a member of the popular idol group Nogizaka46, and experienced actor Naoto Fujiki. These new additions have already sparked curiosity among fans regarding how they will influence the depth of the story and the character dynamics.
In the film, Yuki Yoda will bring to life the character Yoshiko, a childhood friend of our male lead Kohaku Ichimura. On the other hand, Naoto Fujiki, one of the recognizable faces of Japanese cinema, will appear as the father of our main character, Yoi Takiguchi. These two will join previously announced leads Mei Nagano (Yoi) and Fumiya Takahashi (Kohaku) in front of the camera. The fact that the cast consists of such strong names highlights the importance placed on the production quality of the film.
In the Clear Moonlit Dusk has become one of the most modern and beloved examples of the shoujo genre since it began its journey in Kodansha's Dessert magazine in 2020. The story follows the extraordinary romance between Yoi Takiguchi, known as a "prince" at school due to her height and charismatic demeanor, and Kohaku Ichimura, the school's other "prince," who is wealthy and handsome. The attraction between two "princes" offers a narrative that breaks the conventional molds of the genre.
The series' creator, Mika Yamamori, is a legendary name among fans of the genre for works such as Daytime Shooting Star (Hirunaka no Ryuusei) and Tsubaki-chou Lonely Planet. Yamamori's works are known especially for the aesthetic and emotional depth in their character designs. The success of the Daytime Shooting Star live-action film, which was released in 2017, has raised expectations for this new adaptation quite high.
Scheduled for release in Japan in early 2025, the film will deal not only with romance but also with the characters' processes of finding their own identities. The first trailer and official posters for the project, which is currently filming, are expected to be released in the coming months. If you are curious about the story of the "two princes," don't forget to add this film to your list!
