Chapter Summary

The young woman, waking in pain, encounters the names Lady Violeta Hernandez and Isabel Alvarez. The cabaret opening invitation bearing the silver seal of the former Duke Otero turns out to have come from her father's mistress. The Duke visits his mother; the Duchess, whose mental illness is worsening, attacks her son, leaving Vargas helpless. As the Duke reflects on the wound of betrayal and severing ties, a message from Marco sends him by carriage to the factory: the silver-haired woman has disappeared.
