The mountain people make their entrance here, wild, masked, and utterly intimidating, and Hara Yasuhisa plays the reveal perfectly for both comedy and tension. The standout moment is undoubtedly the introduction of the infamous owl guy. At first glance he looks like some kind of beast, towering and screeching with an unsettling mask that had early readers joking about their confusion. Then comes the punchline that defines this chapter's charm, underneath all that ferocity is just a kid in a suit. It is absurd, it is hilarious, and it instantly humanizes a group that was built up as terrifying savages. That shift from fear to laughter mirrors Xin's own experience, he came expecting monsters or soldiers, and instead finds unpredictable people he cannot read. Character wise, this is crucial for Xin. He has just proven himself against the assassin Jo Kan, all rage and raw swordsmanship, but here brute force means nothing. He is outnumbered, out of his depth, and forced to rely on Zheng's calm judgment. Zheng, in contrast, remains coldly composed, already calculating how these tribes could be useful rather than just fearing them. Their dynamic sharpens, Xin as heart and muscle, Zheng as brain and ambition. Emotionally, the chapter underscores survival through adaptation. After losing everything familiar, Xin must learn to roll with the unexpected. Artistically, Hara's creature-like designs for the mountain tribe are incredibly expressive, blending historical grit with tribal fantasy. It leaves fans buzzing not because of a big battle, but because the world just got much bigger and stranger.
