Chapter Summary

Readers are absolutely fuming over Private Scandal [Official] Chapter 8, and honestly, can you blame them? 🔥 The outrage is primarily directed at the "disgusting pervert" boss, Chris, whose unconsented public kiss was a cold, calculated PR move. As if that wasn't enough, his wife, Helen/Helena, isn't getting any love either, being called an "old hag" for blaming Iliyan despite knowingly gaining from the scheme. "Pissing me off!" is a common sentiment. 😤

Poor Iliyan is truly having the worst day ever, battling heatstroke in a heavy fur coat during summer while coping with constant harassment and a growing drinking problem. Readers are collectively feeling for him, lamenting, "Man you just can’t catch a break!" His public humiliation, especially with the crew "smiling and laughing," is sickening. Yet, many admit Iliyan's "hot mess" antics and his "Why are you all sideways?" moment are "so funny" and relatable. 😂 Despite the chaos, fans are still hooked, praising the "beautiful" art and Iliyan's "flawed" yet captivating character. Get ready for a wild ride! 👀

Chapter Analysis: Private Scandal — Chapter 9

Chapter Analysis Private Scandal — Chapter 9
Chapter 9 of Private Scandal is a difficult but pivotal read, shifting the story firmly from chaotic showbiz comedy into uncomfortable, heartbreaking drama. After the public humiliation of the forced kiss in the last chapter, Iliyan is pushed straight back onto set with zero time to recover. Forced to pose in a heavy fur coat under blazing summer lights, his body finally gives out and he collapses from heatstroke, a moment that feels both shocking and inevitable given how exhausted and reliant on alcohol he has become. What makes this chapter so gut-wrenching for fans is the complete lack of safety around Iliyan. Instead of getting help while unconscious and vulnerable, he is assaulted by James Taylor, his boss. It confirms every reader suspicion that James is not just a sleazy opportunist chasing PR, but a genuine predator who uses his power to maintain control. The contrast is sickening, the crew laughing through his drunken sideways comments one minute, then utter silence as he is taken advantage of the next. It reframes so much of Iliyan behavior. His sharp tongue, his drinking, his hot mess energy that we laughed at before now reads clearly as survival mechanisms from years of sustained harassment that started long before Kyle entered the picture. Kyle absence is felt heavily here, which only heightens the tension. Without his chaotic green flag protector around, Iliyan has no buffer between himself and the Taylors. Helen continues to linger in the background as a complicated figure, not quite savior, not quite villain, but someone clearly playing her own game against her monstrous husband. Artistically, Totiko does incredible work with physicality in this chapter. The sweat, flushed skin, and heavy limbed collapse convey heatstroke viscerally, while the shift to hazy, unfocused panels during the assault captures Iliyan disorientation without sensationalizing it. It is a painful, beautifully drawn chapter that leaves the fandom rallying hard behind Iliyan and desperate for Kyle to intervene.
