Akane Akitsu also slots in perfectly as the rival-ally, his samurai-like pride meshing with Sunraku's chaos in a way that makes their combo attack feel earned. Plot-wise, the payoff is massive. The old mark from Wezaemon is gone, but the Lycagon curse evolves instead of lifting, marked by that chilling Fool tarot imagery. It's a classic Shangri-La Frontier rug-pull: you win, but the game just unlocks a harder door. Artistically, Fuji Ryousuke goes all out on Lycagon's fluid, almost liquid shadow form, contrasting its sadistic, playful cruelty with tight close-ups of Emul trembling and Sunraku grinning through the pressure. The paneling during the final combination is kinetic and messy in the best way, capturing speed without losing readability. It's a chapter that celebrates protection over power, and sets Sunraku on a far more dangerous path forward.
