After the desperation of Sekigahara, Takezo finds himself entangled with Oko and Akemi and forced into a confrontation with the Tsujikaze gang and their leader Tenma. When Takezo finally brings Tenma down, it feels like a release for the reader too, that got him moment that fans celebrated. It establishes a crucial pattern for his journey, he wins when he is cornered, when he has something to protect, even if he doesn't fully understand why he's protecting it. Emotionally, the chapter plays with vulnerability underneath the violence. Oko and Akemi are not just bystanders, their fear and dependence force Takezo into an unfamiliar role as a protector. He is still rough and self-serving, but there is a flicker of humanity in his choice to stand his ground for them. Inoue's art elevates everything. The movement is fluid and savage, with heavy brushstrokes that make every slash feel heavy and messy. Close-ups on Takezo's eyes capture that mix of youth and animal intensity, while the chaotic composition of the gang fight makes you feel trapped in the struggle with him.
