Veil — Chapter 16

The wagon slips without a care for the freezing cold. A person seems fixated on a newspaper. A woman seems preoccupied, yet, with a sleepy expression. She's fiddling with the buttons on a heavy coat. He looks at her red lips, as if moving along a wall of white cotton.

Calming noir

She locked the sound in

[Aleksander]: Hey!

[Aleksander]: What are you taking a picture of?

[Emma]: For the sound!

[Aleksander]: That's a strange reason...

[Emma]: Uhfufu...

[Emma]: I often hear noises that I don't expect.

[Emma]: For example, there...

[Emma]: Over there...

[Emma]: And over that way, too.

[Emma]: Or here...

[Emma]: When a noise piques my interest, I take a photograph of it.

[Aleksander]: Really?

[Emma]: I doubt just anyone could think to do something like that.

[Emma]: Fufu...

[Emma]: Well, it just so happens I'm not just anyone.

[Emma]: Ah...

[Aleksander]: Still, it's a little peculiar...

[Emma]: Something is happening here, when shoes and the ground touch...

[Emma]: ...It makes such a curious noise.

[Aleksander]: Oi!

[Aleksander]: Be careful...

[Aleksander]: Don't go too far!

[Emma]: Your boots make a very strong and imposing sound.

[Aleksander]: Got to admit, I do think of myself as having a better voice than people on the radio or television.

[Emma]: But you're a little too chatty for that kind of thing, aren't you?

[Aleksander]: Hey, you're one to talk!

[Emma]: You want to take pictures of sound, too?

[Aleksander]: Hand me your camera.

[Aleksander]: You could say that, yes.

[Aleksander]: We'll see about that once we get the picture.

[Emma]: Wow!

[Emma]: What a delicious smell!
