Two slumbers

[Aleksander]: Hey... Good morning.

[Aleksander]: For a reason I won't tell you, I woke up...

[Emma]: It's not quite morning yet, though, is it?

[Aleksander]: It has to be around one o'clock, something like that.

[Emma]: Hello.

[Aleksander]: It's not like there's going to be any big issue if we tell each other...

[Emma]: And you're speaking like a baby.

[Aleksander]: I could fall asleep right here and now...

[Emma]: But nothing proves we're up for the same reason.

[Aleksander]: Oooh... I really do feel like I'm turning into a baby...

[Aleksander]: But my room is sooo far away, at least twenty steps from here...

[Aleksander]: I'm afraid you won't be able to carry me that far...

[Emma]: Well...

[Emma]: Isn't that strange?

[Emma]: Me, too.

[Aleksander]: Aha... Well then...

[Aleksander]: If it's for the same reason...

[Aleksander]: That's true...

[Emma]: You're slouch- ing...

[Emma]: Are you trying to tell me...

[Emma]: I should carry you to bed?

[Emma]: My room is right here.

[Aleksander]: Even with that drowsiness weighing you down...

[Aleksander]: I think I could carry you there fairly easily.

[Emma]: My services don't include making the bed...

[Emma]: Though you are my "baby" ...

[Emma]: That sure woke me up...

[Aleksander]: Don't forget to lock the door.

[Emma]: And you go sleep in your own room.

[Aleksander]: of course.

[Aleksander]: Goodnight.

Her monologue.

[Emma]: I bit my lips. He clicked his boots three times. He does that when he's proud of himself. It's something I know. It's not nice to show how secure you are, mister. You tickle me with your words.

[Emma]: I love everything that's foamy, steamy. Scarves, headscarves. I press them against my cheek, they're soft. The other day, he was watching me do it, and he said: "Like a child." I had to explain how the face works as a third hand. It's important, after all. "And how would we shake hands uisng this third?" He asked. "Shake hands, hmmm...?", it didn't take me long. Though the solution that came to me was embarrassing.

Veil Vol. 2 - Chapter 21 finds Emma and Aleksander both awake around one in the morning for an unspoken reason. Drowsy and speaking like a baby, Aleksander can barely stay upright while Emma teases him about carrying him to bed, and they finally retreat to their own rooms to sleep.

They greet each other with a drowsy good morning that is not quite morning yet, and Emma immediately notes that Aleksander is speaking like a baby. He can barely stay upright, saying he could fall asleep right here and now, while she teases that her room is so far away, at least twenty steps from here, and that he could not carry her that far. The humor of Veil Vol. 2 - Chapter 21 comes from how slouching and half-asleep they both are while still circling that unspoken shared reason for being awake.
