Assassination Classroom Returns: Jun Fukuyama Describes the Role of Koro-sensei as "A School"

An emotional reunion took place for Assassination Classroom fans. At a special event held for Assassination Classroom the Movie: Everyone's Time (Gekijōban Ansatsu Kyōshitsu: Minna no Jikan), which was released as part of the series' 10th-anniversary projects, Koro-sensei's voice actor Jun Fukuyama made significant remarks. At the premiere held at the Shinjuku Wald 9 cinema in Tokyo on April 5, Fukuyama was accompanied by screenwriter Makoto Uezu and producer Naoto Shoji.
Jun Fukuyama stated that voicing the character Koro-sensei was a turning point in his career, describing the series as a "place of learning" (manabiya). The famous voice actor expressed his dedication to the character, saying, "If I hadn't met Koro-sensei, I wouldn't be able to do many of the things I do now. I felt something budding within me while becoming his voice." It was also shared at the event that Fukuyama was not informed about the surprise "class reunion" scene at the end of the film until the day of recording, and that this situation surprised him just as much as the fans.
Created by Yusei Matsui and serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine between 2012 and 2016, Assassination Classroom achieved massive success, selling over 27 million copies worldwide. The series, which follows a mysterious creature that destroyed 70% of the Moon and threatens to destroy the Earth within a year as he teaches a middle school's "outcast" Class 3-E, left a mark on the anime world with both its humor and emotional depth. Following the two-season anime series released in 2015 and 2016, this new film includes original manga chapters that were not previously adapted into anime and a special epilogue set 10 years after the main story.
The series' 10th-anniversary celebrations are not limited to this film. As part of the celebrations continuing throughout 2025, all episodes of the anime series have begun re-airing in Japan, and new content is being offered to fans through various collaborations. Producer Naoto Shoji emphasized that these projects are designed to honor the legacy of the series and bring it to a new generation of viewers. For fans, this new film is not just a compilation, but also carries the meaning of a "graduation" as a farewell to the growth story of Class 3-E.
