New Trailer Released for Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199 Part 6: Yamato in Modern Japan!

The modern remake project of the legendary science fiction saga Space Battleship Yamato is nearing its conclusion. The second promotional video for "Blue Labyrinth," the sixth installment of the massive seven-part film series Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199, has been officially released. This new chapter, which fans have been eagerly awaiting, will hit theaters in Japan on June 26, 2026.
The newly released trailer is filled with visuals that leave viewers quite surprised. In particular, the appearance of the Yamato in an environment resembling modern-day Japan (Reiwa-era Tokyo) and the launch scenes of the battleship Ginga spark great curiosity about the direction of the story. This installment blends elements from the original 1980 film Be Forever Yamato and the Space Battleship Yamato III television series to offer a modern narrative. The tagline at the end of the trailer, "Everything will go dark," reveals the scale of the approaching danger.
This project is part of a comprehensive remake process that began in 2012 with Space Battleship Yamato 2199. Rebel 3199, with Harutoshi Fukui serving as general director and screenwriter, follows the events of the series' previous installments, 2202 and 2205. This adventure, which will consist of a total of seven films (and 26 episodes), is being brought to life by Studio Mother. Naomichi Yamato sits in the director's chair, while character designs are entrusted to the legendary Nobuteru Yuki.
Space Battleship Yamato is considered one of the most deep-rooted productions in Japanese anime history, with a history spanning over 50 years. This new film series invites both old fans to experience nostalgia and a new generation of viewers to an epic space opera with modern animation techniques. Following the premiere of the sixth part in June, how this epic journey will conclude with the seventh and final installment is already among the most discussed topics within the community.
