New Cast and Visual Revealed for Blue Lock Live-Action Film: Barō Takes the Field!

Blue Lock, which shook the manga and anime world with its "egoist" perspective on the soccer world, is now preparing to hit the big screen. With the latest announcement from the production team, a new visual and key additions to the cast have been shared for the highly anticipated live-action film. Keisuke Higashi will take on the role of Shōei Barō, one of the series' most iconic characters known as the "King," while Ryōta Miura will portray the Wanima twins, known for their unique communication on the field.
Written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura, Blue Lock has brought a fresh breath to the sports manga genre since it began in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in 2018. The series, which won the "Best Shōnen Manga" award at the 45th Kodansha Manga Awards in 2021, turned into a global phenomenon, especially in parallel with the success of the Japanese national team during the 2022 World Cup. Selling over 30 million copies worldwide, the manga focuses on a radical training facility built to reject traditional team play and create the world's best striker.
The newly joined Keisuke Higashi is a name previously known for his strong performances in various stage plays. How he will portray a physically dominant and authoritative character like Barō is already a subject of curiosity. On the other hand, the fact that Ryōta Miura will play both Wanima twins suggests that creative filming techniques will be used in the movie. The newly shared main visual successfully reflects the tense and competitive atmosphere of the Blue Lock facility, taking fan expectations to the next level.
