Bocchi the Rock! Meets Fans with Projection Show at Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building

An exciting event is on the horizon for fans of the popular anime series Bocchi the Rock! The series, adapted from Hamaji Aki's original manga, will appear at one of Tokyo's landmarks with a giant projection mapping show. The projection themed around 'Seishun Complex', which will be displayed at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building (Tocho) starting June 20, will project the anime's iconic opening scene and characters onto a giant screen.
This special show, organized as part of Japan's 'Tokyo Night & Light' project, once again highlights the series' popularity. Bocchi the Rock!, animated by CloverWorks, has received great acclaim since its release in late 2022 for both its music and its sincere depiction of a young girl dealing with social anxiety. The show is expected to feature scenes from the performances of main character Hitori 'Bocchi' Gotoh and her friends in Kessoku Band set against Tokyo's night skyline.
The projection mapping event aims to further expand the series' already strong fan base. While the Bocchi the Rock! manga continues to be serialized in Manga Time Kirara Max, a film compilation and rumors of a possible second season have surfaced in recent months. Such large-scale promotional events signal the studio's confidence in the series and the possibility of a new announcement in the near future. Moreover, the seiyuu cast that produced the music for Bocchi the Rock! also stands out with live performances, and the projection show turns this musical success into a visual spectacle.
The show, which can be viewed from the observation deck on the 45th floor of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, will be repeated at specific times each evening. Although the duration of the event has not yet been clarified, such projections usually last for several weeks. For Bocchi the Rock! fans, this is one of the best ways to physically step into the world of the series. If you have the chance to be in Tokyo, we recommend not missing this giant visual spectacle. Otherwise, you may have to settle for images shared on social media.
