The World of Dandadan Comes to Life: Giant Exhibition Opens Its Doors in Tokyo

Today is a very exciting day for fans of the popular anime series Dandadan! The first comprehensive exhibition shedding light on the series' production process, "Dandadan Animation Works Exhibition," opened its doors to visitors on April 22, 2026, at Matsuya Ginza, considered the heart of Tokyo. The opening event was joined by the successful artist Shion Wakayama, who voices the series' beloved main character Momo Ayase, sharing in the fans' enthusiasm.
The exhibition reveals step-by-step how the Science SARU studio transformed Yukinobu Tatsu's unique manga into a visual feast. Visitors have the opportunity to closely examine many details, from character designs to background drawings, and from previously unseen production notes to special animation frames. Speaking at the press conference, Shion Wakayama described the exhibition as "an event where the team's soul is woven into every corner," and noted that the Serpo Alien (Serpo-seijin) panels are a must-see.
Dandadan has quickly turned into a global phenomenon with its structure that blends supernatural events, alien invasions, and teenage romance, going beyond being just an action series. The fact that the series' creator, Yukinobu Tatsu, worked as an assistant alongside Chainsaw Man creator Tatsuki Fujimoto and Hell’s Paradise creator Yuji Kaku is evident in the series' dynamic panel structure and wild character designs. The Science SARU team, led by director Fuga Yamashiro, has raised the bar significantly in the modern anime world by bringing this complex world to the screen with a fluid animation language.
For Dandadan, which received the good news that its 3rd season will arrive in 2027 during Jump Festa 2026 following two successful seasons, this exhibition serves as a stopover to sweeten the fans' wait. The event, which will continue until May 11, also features interactive areas that recreate the series' iconic scenes and limited-edition products exclusive to the exhibition. If your path takes you to Tokyo during these dates, don't forget to take a closer look at this strange yet sincere world of Momo and Okarun!
