The manga, serialized between 2017 and 2023, achieved great success by repeatedly ranking at the top of the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! lists. The anime adaptation is handled by Studio Shuka, known for its emotional and atmospheric productions such as Natsume's Book of Friends and Durarara!!.
Director Miyuki Oshiro, a name who has previously worked on many successful projects, focuses on bringing the characters' inner worlds and quiet moments to the screen in this series. The talk session at the event will offer an opportunity to hear behind-the-scenes information about the production process and the director's vision firsthand. Furthermore, the performances of talented names such as Miyuri Shimabukuro (Makoto) and Sena Kasumi (Asa), who voice the lead roles in the series, are eagerly awaited by fans for how they reflect the subtle bond between the characters.
This marathon screening serves as an important step in reaching a wider audience for the series. The Ikoku Nikki universe is not limited to just the anime; there is also a live-action film that was released in June 2024, starring famous actress Yui Aragaki. This activity on both the manga and film fronts is proof of the significant cultural impact the series has created in Japan. Anime lovers are counting down the days to experience the emotional weight and visual quality of this 13-episode journey on the big screen.
