Tenkaichi: The Greatest Warrior Under the Rising Sun Anime Adaptation to Premiere in April 2027

The long-awaited anime adaptation of the manga Tenkaichi: The Greatest Warrior Under the Rising Sun has been officially announced. Along with the promotional video released on August 13, 2026, the series' main voice cast and studio were also revealed. The anime will premiere in April 2027.
The main cast will feature Gen Sato, Kenichirō Matsuda, and Kenyū Horiuchi. The manga, written by Nakashima and illustrated by Kyōtarō Azuma, has been pitting legendary swordsmen and military leaders against each other since 2021 to determine the strongest warrior in Japanese history. This tournament, featuring historical figures such as Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojirō, reinterprets the samurai era with an alternative and remarkably gritty action narrative.
The production is handled by studio Fugaku. The promotional video offers a first look at the series' stylized fight scenes and detailed character designs. The manga has attracted attention both in Japan and among international readers for its tournament format and approach to historical characters, which explains why the anime adaptation is generating so much buzz in the industry.
The anime adaptation will bring the series to a wider audience. For the production, which is scheduled to air in April 2027, new trailers, character introductions, and streaming platform details are expected to be shared in the coming months. Tenkaichi fans are already looking forward to the day when an action-packed tournament story returns in anime form with a strong production.
