Toei Animation Celebrates 70th Anniversary with Special Video

Toei Animation celebrated its 70th anniversary with a special video. As one of the most established studios in the anime world, Toei brought together its history dating from 1956 to the present, legendary productions, and characters etched into fans' memories throughout the video.
The studio's post highlights the message: “Relive 70 years of classics and fan favorites.” The video serves as a tribute to globally recognized series such as Dragon Ball, One Piece, Sailor Moon, Digimon, and Pretty Cure.
Toei Animation was founded on October 31, 1956, with the dream of the then-CEO Hiroshi Okawa of becoming “the Disney of the East”. The studio, initially named Toei Doga, quickly became one of the pioneers of television and film animation. Legendary figures such as Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata also spent their early careers at this studio.
The 70th anniversary video is not just a nostalgia compilation; it also showcases the studio's recent achievements. Toei Animation has recently produced box office hits like One Piece Film: Red and has managed to keep a massive franchise like One Piece alive across generations.
For fans, this video is not only a tribute to the studio's past but also may contain hints about its future projects. New announcements are expected as part of the 70th anniversary celebrations, and Toei is expected to make waves with special projects in 2026.
