English Dubbed Trailer and Release Date Announced for That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime's Second Movie "Tears of the Azure Sea"!

Exciting news for That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Tensura) fans! The official English dubbed trailer for the series' highly anticipated second feature film, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea (Sōkai no Namida-hen), has been released. According to the announcement, the film will hit theaters in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Ireland on May 1, 2026.
The film's story takes place immediately after the third season of the series, one month after the Tempest Founder's Festival. Rimuru Tempest and his friends go to a special resort at the invitation of Elmesia, the empress of the Sorcerer Dynasty of Sarion. However, this peaceful vacation is interrupted with the help of Yura, a priestess from the underwater nation of Kaien. Rimuru will have to dive into the deep sea to stop a dark conspiracy attempting to awaken the ancient Aqua Dragon.
Based on an original story written by series creator Fuse, the film is brought to life by studio Eight Bit. The director's chair is occupied by Yasuhito Kikuchi, whom we know from previous installments of the series. The production team promises a visual feast, stating that they used advanced water physics CGI technologies to make the underwater world more realistic. Additionally, the film's theme song, "Eutopia," is performed by the series' beloved artist TRUE.
This new film serves as a critical bridge for the Tensura universe. The story will fill the gap between the third season, which ended in 2024, and the massive five-cour fourth season scheduled to begin in April 2026. Following the first film, Scarlet Bond, grossing over $13 million worldwide, this sequel is also expected to achieve similar global success.
For fans, the May 1st release date serves as a celebration almost simultaneous with the start of the series' fourth season. Distributed in collaboration with Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures, the film will be presented to moviegoers with both the original Japanese audio and the newly announced English dub cast. The countdown has begun to see how Rimuru will change the fate of the underwater kingdom in this journey that started as a slime!
