Marvel and WEBTOON Announce Three New Vertical-Scroll Series at SDCC 2026

Marvel and WEBTOON announced an exciting collaboration at San Diego Comic-Con 2026 (SDCC) last weekend. The two giants unveiled three brand new original vertical-scroll series exclusive to the platform. These series bring Marvel characters into WEBTOON's smooth, mobile-friendly format, aiming to unite both comic book and webtoon fans.
The three announced series are: Tony's Girl, That Time Deadpool Fell Into WEBTOON...and Found The Longest Title of All Time!!!, and X-Men Korea. The first series is described as a romantic story focusing on Tony Stark's personal life. Deadpool's adventure, as the title suggests, is a meta-fictional comedy that begins with the character finding himself in a WEBTOON universe. X-Men Korea will tell a completely original story about mutants in South Korea, blending the country's cultural dynamics with the Marvel universe.
This collaboration is not entirely new. Marvel has previously appeared on WEBTOON with audio drama projects like Marvel: Wastelanders and various digital comics. However, these three series will be the first Marvel originals produced specifically for WEBTOON's vertical-scroll format. Considering that WEBTOON reaches millions of readers weekly on a global scale, this move is a significant part of Marvel's strategy to connect with the next generation of readers. Particularly, regionally focused content like X-Men Korea shows Marvel's effort to expand into different cultures.
Marvel officials speaking at the San Diego Comic-Con panel stated that the series will be released in late 2026 or early 2027. Although exact release dates have not been announced yet, all three series are planned to be published for free on the WEBTOON app. The long title and meta-humor of the Deadpool series are seen as a strategy designed to boost the character's popularity, much like in recent films.
This announcement once again proves that the line between traditional formats and digital publishing in the comic book industry is becoming increasingly thin. The rise of platforms like WEBTOON is leading giants like Marvel to turn to different formats to reach new reader audiences. More details about the creative teams and cover art of the series are expected to be shared in the coming months. Fans have already started debating which story will be their favorite.
