Suikoden Star Leap Coming to iOS and Android in Japan on August 7
The release date for Suikoden Star Leap in Japan has been announced. According to Anime News Network, the game will be released on iOS and Android devices on August 7. This announcement signals that the series is entering a new era.
Suikoden began with the first game released for the PlayStation in 1995, and especially with Suikoden II from 1998, it entered the cult classics of JRPG history. The series' creator, Yoshitaka Murayama, left his mark on these works with a story woven around the 108 Stars of Destiny and a cast of characters. Although Murayama passed away in 2024, Suikoden continues to exist thanks to its fan base.
In 2025, Konami brought the series back into the spotlight by releasing Suikoden I&II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars on all platforms. This release, which created a huge wave of return on PC, console, and mobile platforms, brought old and new players together in the same world. Now, with Star Leap, this momentum seems to have shifted to the mobile side.
Mobile games are an important area for long-running JRPG series to reach new audiences. Konami's move shows a desire to keep the Suikoden universe alive and secure the series' future. The 'leap' emphasis in the name Star Leap also suggests a claim to make a new leap from the series' classic era.
