Four New Manga Series Hit Shelves on June 5: A Wide Spectrum from Retired Idol to Teacher Horror

June 5, 2025 was a very busy day for the Japanese manga world. Kadokawa's Kadomi label and Mecha Comic platform released the first volumes of four new series at the same time. Ranging from rebirth in old age to teacher horror thriller, from romantic comedy developed through voice chat to the struggle to reclaim a shop, these series cater to different tastes.
Penned by Nagata Sanzui, "Rival Arrival" follows a former idol who once gave a legendary night show as she restarts her career in her 60s. The first volume was published by Kadokawa Kadomi. Sanzui's sincere and inspiring story shows that age is not a barrier while also sending a nostalgic salute to the former idol culture.
On the other hand, "Haru to Monmon" (春と紋々), brought to life with illustrations by Rō Shimafushi, is adapted from an original story by Kei Kunii. Starting serialization on Mecha Comic on June 5, this romantic drama tells a thrilling love story between a naive girl who lost her precious shop and a dangerous man. The struggle to reclaim the lost venue adds action and emotional depth to the story.
For horror and psychological thriller fans, Saki Sakura's series "Now Begins the Lesson of 'Judgment'" is on the shelves. In this school horror-thriller featuring twin male teachers in the lead, problematic students and toxic parents are judged in a classroom that turns into a courtroom. Sakura's sharp pen and unsettling atmosphere are a perfect fit for genre enthusiasts.
On the romantic comedy front, there is Sanbon Koyori's "Modokashi Complex". The series, whose first volume was again published by Kadokawa Kadomi, deals with the mutual one-sided love of two people who fall in love through voice chat. Blending new ways of meeting brought by the digital age with humor and sweet tension, this work seems likely to make a splash, especially among young readers.
Kadokawa's digital-focused Kadomi brand, with these four new releases, targets readers of different genres on both paper and digital platforms. Mecha Comic, on the other hand, continues to grow with romantic and dramatic content that appeals especially to a female readership. The sales figures and reader comments for the first volumes of these series will determine which stories will reach a second volume in the coming months. June seems set to be quite productive for new manga discoveries.
