New Visuals Shared for Gachiakuta Stage Play: Rudo's Journey of Exile Begins

Gachiakuta, one of the most notable series in Weekly Shonen Magazine in recent years, is preparing to meet its fans with a stage adaptation. The production team has shared three new promotional visuals for the highly anticipated play. The most striking among these is the "Exile Visual," which depicts the moment the protagonist Rudo is framed for a crime he did not commit and thrown into the bottomless pit known as "Naraku" (The Abyss). This dark fantasy world, created by Kei Urana and graffiti designer Hideyoshi Ando, aims to reflect the chaotic and impressive atmosphere of the original work through its stage design.
The stage play will meet audiences at Theater H in Tokyo from November 20 to December 1, 2024, and subsequently at Sky Theater MBS in Osaka from December 5 to 15, 2024. In the play, the character Rudo will be portrayed by young talent Ryohei Shidara, accompanied by Koudai Matsuoka in the role of Enjin. The director's chair is occupied by Kenichi Suemitsu, who is known for many successful stage adaptations. This cast is in an intensive preparation process to bring the manga's unique "trash" and "recycling" themed combat system to the stage.
Gachiakuta is highly respected not only for its story but also for the industry background of its creator, Kei Urana. A former assistant to Atsushi Ohkubo, author of legendary series like Fire Force and Soul Eater, Urana combines her master's dynamic drawing style with her own unique graffiti aesthetic in this series. The manga, which began serialization in 2022, reached a large fan base in a short time. The series' popularity has grown so much that it was officially announced in recent months that it will receive an anime adaptation by Studio Bones in 2025.
This stage play is of critical importance in expanding the series' universe and presenting the story to fans from a different perspective. It is a matter of great curiosity how we will see Rudo's awakening as a "Giver" and his ability to create powerful weapons from trash in a live performance. These performances, which will take place before the anime series, serve as proof of the Gachiakuta brand's global growth strategy and the strength of the 2.5D stage play culture in Japan.
