Hunter x Hunter Manga Surpasses 100 Million Copies in Circulation and Restarts on Monday

The eagerly followed Hunter x Hunter manga has both broken a circulation record and is returning after a long hiatus. According to the official announcement, Yoshihiro Togashi's legendary series has reached 100 million copies in circulation worldwide. This massive figure once again highlights the series' popularity. Additionally, the manga will resume publication in Weekly Shonen Jump on Monday, July 6, 2026.
Starting in 1998, Hunter x Hunter follows Gon Freecss's journey to become a Hunter. The series, which Togashi has frequently had to put on hiatus due to health issues, has maintained a large fan base despite this. Chapters were last published in 2022; during the intervening period, Togashi's drawing process slowed due to his back pain. However, the author had announced on social media that he was preparing new chapters. Now, with the official return news, fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
The 100 million copies circulation places Hunter x Hunter among the best-selling manga of all time. For comparison, while One Piece is around 500 million and Dragon Ball around 300 million, Hunter x Hunter stands out for achieving this number with fewer chapters. The series has a huge fan base not only in Japan but worldwide, and is particularly praised for its deep themes and complex character development, such as in the Chimera Ant Arc.
After this return, it is a matter of curiosity at what pace Togashi will continue publication. As in the past, we may encounter irregular chapters; however, the author's health condition seems to have relatively improved. Where the new chapters will take the story is already a subject of speculation. Fans, especially those waiting for the Dark Continent arc to be completed, welcome this restart with great hope. Next Monday will be the day a new page is turned in the Hunter x Hunter universe.
