Iori Nao's New Manga Series "Killer Robot and Human Manaka" Hits Shelves as Tankobon

A new addition to the extraordinary stories of the manga world has arrived. The first tankobon volume of Iori Nao's new series "Killer Robot and Human Manaka" (Japanese title: 殺戮ロボと人のマナカ) hit the shelves in Japan on June 4, 2024. Nao, previously known for popular works such as "Koi to Uso" (Love and Lies), this time focuses on the complex relationship between mechanical hearts and the human soul.
The story begins with the encounter between Manaka, a young girl whose emotions are almost completely suppressed, living like a machine, and a mysterious character who is a half-human, half-killer robot. According to Natalie's report, the manga explores the theme of "a mechanical girl meeting humanity." This encounter leads both characters to question their own existences and learn to approach each other with compassion. The series stands out with its atmosphere oscillating between violence and sentimentality.
Iori Nao previously gained an international fan base with "Koi to Uso" (2014-2020), which dealt with love in a dystopian society where young people are paired by the state. His new manga again questions social norms, this time examining the line between artificial intelligence and humanity. Although "Killer Robot and Human Manaka" has only just begun, Nao's character-driven narrative and ethical dilemmas from his previous works are evident in this series. The manga is being released chapter by chapter on digital platforms in Japan; the tankobon volume collects the first few chapters.
This kind of story is a great treat for fans of cyberpunk and science fiction drama, in particular. Given the popularity of existential robot-themed manga in recent years, such as "Yokohama Kaidashi Kikō" or "Girls' Last Tour", Nao's new series could appeal to a similar audience. Although it has not yet been officially licensed by a publisher in Turkey, it is only a matter of time before it reaches international readers through translation groups and digital platforms. The release date for the second volume has not been announced yet, but we anticipate new chapters coming soon given Iori Nao's steady drawing pace.
