Special Collaboration Illustration Released for Jirō Satō's 'Nameless' Film and Manga Adaptation

The highly anticipated new project 'Nameless' (名無し) by Jirō Satō, a prominent figure in Japanese cinema and manga, is making waves in both the film and manga worlds. To celebrate Satō's 57th birthday on May 7, a special collaboration illustration was released by Ryo Nagata, the artist behind the film's manga adaptation. This striking artwork brings together the film version of the 'Nameless' character, portrayed by Satō, and the manga version, showcasing the distinct yet resonating madness of the character in both mediums.
Jirō Satō is a versatile artist known in Japan as an actor, screenwriter, and director. The 'Nameless' project originally emerged as a film script that Satō had been working on for a long time. However, due to the project's extreme themes and unique world, a cinematic adaptation initially faced difficulties. This led to the story first coming to life as a webcomic with illustrations by Ryo Nagata. Following the webcomic's success, it was decided to adapt it into a live-action film directed by Hideo Jojo and starring Jirō Satō. The film is scheduled to be released in Japan on May 22, 2026.
'Nameless' is a psycho-violence story about mass murders committed in a family restaurant, seemingly without the use of any weapons. Security camera footage shows a middle-aged man touching the victims, at which point their deaths occur. As the police investigate these inexplicable murders, they discover that the suspect is a man named Taro Yamada, and his right hand is the key to these mysterious events. The story explores the despair and helplessness of a man who transforms into an 'unnamed monster'.
