Kageki Shojo!! Mangaka Kumiko Saiki Injured at a Music Festival: Health Condition Concerning

Sad news has arrived from the world of manga. Kumiko Saiki, the talented creator of the Kageki Shojo!! series, suffered a serious accident while attending a music festival recently. According to an official statement released on April 6, 2026, the incident actually occurred on March 29 at a festival in the Ariake district of Tokyo. In a statement on her social media account, the artist stated that during the first band's performance, someone from the crowd suddenly performed a "crowd dive" onto her, causing her to suffer injuries to her head and arm.
Following her hospitalization, initial examinations of Kumiko Saiki revealed a serious sprain in her neck. However, the severity of the situation increased with doctors' warnings regarding the risk of a brain hemorrhage. The artist is currently being kept under observation and is thanking her fans for their messages of support. This unfortunate incident has once again ignited discussions within the manga industry regarding the safety and health of artists.
Kumiko Saiki achieved great success, particularly with the Kageki Shojo!! series, which tells the story of the behind-the-scenes world of theater. This journey, which began in 2012 in Jump Kai magazine, later continued in Melody magazine. The series was also successfully adapted into an anime by the Pine Jam studio in 2021. According to an announcement made in September 2025, the manga is currently in its final arc and is planned to conclude with the 17th volume.
