Kingdom Live-Action Series Grows: New Cast and Trailer for the 5th Film Arrive!

Kingdom, one of Japan's most beloved historical epic series, continues its journey on the big screen at full speed. The long-awaited major announcement for the series' fifth live-action film, Kingdom: Tamashii no Kessen (Battle of Destiny), has finally arrived. The producers have shared 10 new cast members and an action-packed trailer for the film, which will cover one of the series' most iconic arcs, the "Coalition Army Arc".
Among the newly announced cast, the names that excite fans the most include Takumi Saitoh as Shunshinkun, Kei Tanaka as the genius strategist Go Hou Mei, and Ayaka Miyoshi as the formidable general Ka Rin. The released "Coalition Army ver." trailer showcases the first glimpses of these characters on the battlefield. The film will also feature talented actors such as Katsuya, Wataru Ichinose, Kento Shibuya, Kai Shishido, Kosei Yuki, Ryoki Miyama, and Aoi Nakamura, who will take on key roles in the struggle for the unification of China.
The Kingdom manga, which has been published in Weekly Young Jump magazine by Yasuhisa Hara since 2006, has become a modern classic, selling over 100 million copies worldwide. The live-action film series has continued to break records at the Japanese box office since its debut in 2019. The fourth film in the series, Kingdom: Return of the Great General, achieved great success in the summer of 2024. The fifth film aims to raise the bar even higher by bringing one of the manga's highest-paced and most emotionally profound battles to the big screen.
So, what awaits us? Kingdom: Tamashii no Kessen will be released in theaters in Japan on July 11, 2025. In this film, we will watch the state of Qin's existential struggle against the combined attack of the other six states. While Shinsuke Sato, who played a major role in the success of the series, sits in the director's chair again, we will continue to see familiar faces in the lead roles such as Kento Yamazaki (Shin) and Ryo Yoshizawa (Ei Sei). The scale of the battle scenes and the depth that the new characters will add to the story have already become a major topic of curiosity on social media.
