New Stills from the Mobuko no Koi Live-Action Film: A Closer Look at an 'Extra's' First Love

As Akane Tamura's highly acclaimed manga Mobuko no Koi (Mobuko's Love) prepares to hit the big screen, exciting new visuals from the production continue to emerge. The latest scene photos offer a realistic glimpse into the inner world and social circle of Nobuko Tanaka, who sits at the heart of the story and views herself as an 'extra' (mob) in life. In the shared stills, moments where Nobuko, portrayed by Hiyori Sakurada, observes events like an outsider despite being part of her friend group and retreats into her shell, stand out.
The film will be released in Japan on June 5, 2026. The director's chair is occupied by Hiroki Kazama, known for emotionally profound works such as silent and Umi no Hajimari. The lead roles are shared by one of the rising stars of the recent period, Hiyori Sakurada, and Taisei Kido, who gained fame with the Netflix series First Love. The story follows the courageous small steps taken by Nobuko, a university student who works part-time at a supermarket and prefers to stay in the background due to her shyness, after she falls in love with her coworker, Hiroki Irie.
The original manga, created by Akane Tamura, first began its journey in 2017 in Monthly Comic Zenon magazine. The series, which has reached 24 volumes as of now, has gained a large fan base by focusing on the emotions of 'ordinary' people who are not in the spotlight, unlike traditional romantic stories. The film will also feature names such as Ikoi Hayase, Erika Karata, and Takuya Kusakawa in supporting roles. The music of the production
