A New Era in the Manga World: Exciting New Series from Famous Authors Are Coming

The manga world is making a very fast entry into 2026. The creators of beloved series are returning with brand-new projects that will excite their readers. In particular, the new announcement from Yu Tomofuji, who gained a massive global fanbase with Sacrificial Princess & the King of Beasts (Niehime to Kemono no Ou), has already caused a major stir on social media. Following the 15-volume success of Tomofuji's previous work, it also received a popular anime adaptation in 2023, raising the bar quite high in the fantasy romance genre.
Yu Tomofuji is starting her new series titled Kimi o Norowaba (If I Curse You) in July. First appearing as a one-shot story in January, this work will begin regular serialization in The Hana to Yume magazine on July 27th. The story centers on a young man named Yachimaru Shijō, who begins working for Tsubaki Tsukumo, the leader of the Tsukumo family who makes a living by casting curses. Although Yachimaru is constantly scolded by his grumpy boss Tsubaki, he continues to stay in this house for a secret purpose he must fulfill. Tomofuji's style, which blends dark fantasy and emotional depth, seems set to make itself felt in this series as well.
Another exciting piece of news came from Riku Natsume, the artist of the 8th Loop for the Win! series. Natsume will launch her new manga titled Saimu Mahō Shōjo Kureca Riboca (Debt-Ridden Magical Girl Kureca Riboca) on the Comic Border platform on May 22nd. This series, which will likely add economic humor or drama to the magical girl genre, is eagerly awaited for Natsume's dynamic drawing style. The fluid action scenes in the artist's previous works signal that the new series will also be visually satisfying.
Finally, Yūichirō Momose, known as the lead writer of the Hypnosis Mic series, and artist Shiwasu Hoshikawa, who made a name for himself with various side-story adaptations of Bungo Stray Dogs (such as STORM BRINGER), are joining forces. The duo's new series, Gyakusatsu Kigen (Origin of the Massacre), will meet readers in Kodansha's prestigious Afternoon magazine on May 25th. The combination of Momose's talent for building complex character relationships and Hoshikawa's detailed, aesthetic drawings makes this series a candidate to be one of the most ambitious works of the year.
These new announcements promise a summer full of content for manga enthusiasts who love both romantic fantasy and dark action. Watching experienced names in the industry build new worlds is always a great pleasure. Let's see if these new series can overshadow their creators' previous successes. Manga lovers will have their eyes and ears on the first chapters in May and July.
