Nobunaga Concerto Manga Returns in July and Ends with Three Chapters

There is both joyful and sad news for fans of Nobunaga Concerto. According to Anime News Network, the historical fantasy manga by Ayumi Ishii will resume publication in July 2026 after a hiatus of about three years, and will then end with just three chapters. The last chapter of the series was published in March 2023.
Nobunaga Concerto follows Saburo, a modern high school student who is mysteriously transported to the Sengoku period and replaces the famous warlord Oda Nobunaga. Blending historical events with humor and emotion, the series began in 2009 in Shogakukan's Monthly Shonen Sunday magazine. It gained significant attention with an anime adaptation that aired on Fuji TV in 2014 and a live-action drama series starring Shun Oguri in the same year. The manga also won the Shogakukan Manga Award for Best Shonen Manga in 2016.
The exact reason why author Ayumi Ishii halted this long-running series in March 2023 is not fully known; however, it is speculated that health issues or a break in the creative process were involved. Fortunately, Ishii has decided to complete the story, preparing a farewell for readers. After the remaining three chapters are published in Monthly Shonen Sunday in July, this long-running adventure will come to an end.
This news comes as a great relief especially for fans who were worried that Nobunaga Concerto had been left unfinished abruptly. The series occupied a unique place with its fun and alternative perspective on historical events. In the final three chapters, the fate of Saburo and how Nobunaga's historical end will change are topics of curiosity. For manga collectors and longtime followers of the series, this is a moment not to be missed to complete their collections and see the story's conclusion.
