The First Volume of the PRINCE OF GHOST Manga Has Been Released: The Intertwining Fates of Humans and Spirits

An exciting development has occurred for those interested in fantasy stories and supernatural romance in the world of manga. The highly anticipated first volume of the PRINCE OF GHOST series, written by Yuki Aimu and illustrated by Anji Hoshina, officially hit shelves on May 13. Published under the Kodansha label, this new series explores the ancient bonds between humans and spirits (ayakashi) and the intertwining fates of these two species.
At the center of the story is Mikoto, a high school student left all alone after losing her parents in a tragic accident. Moving into an old, dilapidated house inherited from her family, Mikoto encounters a mysterious coffin. When the necklace left by her mother glows, the seal on the coffin is broken, revealing Hakana, a "half-spirit" (han-yo) whose face is covered in bandages. This unexpected encounter, which begins with Hakana's words, "There is no need for tears; I will make you smile," drags Mikoto into the dangerous and enchanting atmosphere of the spirit world.
PRINCE OF GHOST stands out as the second major step of the PRINCE PROJECT, which is actually a much broader multimedia project. In this phase of the project, the famous Japanese music group FANTASTICS from EXILE TRIBE supports the project by performing the series' theme song, "Twilight Glitter." The character designs were created by the artist Ameno. The series first began digital serialization on November 22, 2025, on the Palcy manga app, developed in partnership between Kodansha and Pixiv.
Anji Hoshina, who has received great acclaim for her illustrations, previously worked on Issho Itai Koi o Shitai yo and Comeback After Fate.
