Scholastic’s Graphix Imprint to Publish Yusuke Saitoh’s ‘Chuck and the Girl’ Manga in English

Scholastic’s graphic novel imprint for adult and young readers, Graphix, has decided to publish Japanese mangaka Yusuke Saitoh’s beloved work “Chuck and the Girl” in English. According to Anime News Network, the manga will hit shelves as a single volume on August 3, 2027. This announcement marks the long-awaited realization of a license that Western readers have been anticipating for a long time.
Yusuke Saitoh is a writer known for works such as “Kimi no Iro” (Your Color) and “Hoshi no Koe”, and stands out for his warm and sincere storytelling. “Chuck and the Girl” tells the romantic story of a young man living in the USA and a girl from Japan, blended with cultural differences. The manga was originally published in Japan from 2020 to 2022, and was praised for its style of depicting small moments in everyday life.
Scholastic’s Graphix brand has previously handled English editions of many major series such as “The Promised Neverland”, “Magi”, and “Pokémon”. However, this license is seen as a reflection of Graphix’s policy to support independent and smaller-scale manga as well. The company states that “Chuck and the Girl” will stand out among young adult readers especially with its cultural exchange themes.
Setting the release date as far as 2027 signals that the translation, localization, and printing processes will be carried out carefully. Fans are eagerly awaiting how Saitoh’s original style will be conveyed in English. Although pre-orders are not yet open, Scholastic is expected to share more details in the coming months. If you don’t have the Japanese edition, you may have to wait until summer 2027 – but it’s definitely a story worth waiting for.
