A New Dark Fantasy on Shonen Jump+: Doron Begins Serialization

Shueisha's popular digital platform Shonen Jump+ has added another ambitious title to its library. The new manga series titled Doron, written and illustrated by young talent Kosuke Azumaya, officially began its publication on May 15, 2026. This new work in the Japanese-style dark fantasy (Wafu Dark Fantasy) genre garnered great interest from readers with its first chapter.
The story of the manga takes place in a world where supernatural powers and humans are intertwined. Our protagonist Moku is a half-yokai teenager descended from the legendary Satori (yokai that can read human hearts). However, Moku's ability is slightly different from his ancestors; he cannot read human hearts, but instead, he can hear the emotions and thoughts of "non-human beings." This unique ability makes him a key figure on the thin line between monsters and humans.
Kosuke Azumaya has achieved his first major serialization with this series. Having previously won the "Bronze Rookie Award" at Shonen Jump+ in March 2026 with his work titled Alan, the artist has taken a giant step in his professional career with Doron. The art style and atmosphere of the series possess a depth that will appeal to fans of modern dark fantasy works such as Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer.
The Shonen Jump+ platform has proven the power of digital in the manga industry in recent years by hosting global hits such as Spy x Family and Kaiju No. 8. The fact that Doron will be published weekly on Fridays on this platform indicates that the series could gain rapid momentum. This story, which centers on empathy between humans and monsters...
