First Visual Released for the Live-Action Series Sono Tensai-sama wa Gisou Kanojo ni Shuuchaku suru!

We have exciting news for fans of romantic comedy and drama! The popular manga series Sono Tensai-sama wa Gisou Kanojo ni Shuuchaku suru (That Genius is Obsessed with His Fake Girlfriend) by Chikafuji and Murayama Inu is being adapted into a live-action television series. The producers have finally shared the highly anticipated key visual with fans. In the visual, we see the lead actors who will bring the central characters Iku Wakatsuki and Rin Hoshino to life, side-by-side in their costumes for the first time.
The series stars two shining stars of the Japanese entertainment world. Taiki Konno, a talented member of the group 7 MEN Samurai, will play the role of the "genius" and equally obsessed Iku. He will be joined by Shiho Kato, a beloved former member of the popular idol group Hinatazaka46, who will play the role of Rin. The story follows Rin, who is nearing 30, unemployed, and without a boyfriend, as she begins working as a cleaner at the home of Iku, a genius programmer, through her brother's connection. However, this professional relationship soon turns into an unexpected "fake dating" contract.
The original manga series reached a wide readership, particularly for its character depth and romantic tension. The work, which topped sales charts on platforms like BookLive in 2024 and 2025, explores a modern love story between a possessive genius and a woman who has hit rock bottom in her life. The series is planned to consist of 10 episodes and is scheduled to begin airing on the CBC channel on April 23, 2026. How the "obsessive" and protective traits beneath Iku's genius personality will be reflected on screen has already become a major topic of interest among the manga's loyal readers.
If you love stories with a "fake dating to real love" theme filled with heart-fluttering moments, this production should definitely be on your list. This series, which will be one of Taiki Konno's first major leading roles, also seems set to cement Shiho Kato's rise in her acting career. While it is not yet clear whether the series will be available on international platforms upon its release, J-Drama fans have already begun the countdown!
