Star Wars Universe Expands with New Manga 'Tsukumo' by Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi

The Star Wars universe is expanding with a brand new original story from the talented Japanese manga creators Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi. The manga, titled Star Wars Visions: Tsukumo, will be introduced for the first time at the prestigious San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) in July 2026. This exciting production, published by VIZ Media, will officially be released in the USA on July 14, 2026.
Inspired by the Star Wars Visions project, Tsukumo offers fans an opportunity to view the Galaxy through a different cultural lens. Star Wars Visions is known as an animated anthology series produced by Lucasfilm for Disney+. Its first volume was released in 2021 with works from Japanese animation studios, while the second volume expanded to include studios worldwide in 2023, and the third volume focused again on Japanese animation in 2025. This series brings creative freedom to the Star Wars universe with unique and often non-canonical stories.
The creative duo behind the manga, Eiichi Shimizu (writer) and Tomohiro Shimoguchi (artist), are well-known names in the manga world. They are particularly recognized for their works such as the Ultraman manga series and Linebarrels of Iron. Shimizu and Shimoguchi are praised for their dynamic mechanical designs, cinematic layouts, and impressive action choreography. When these talents combine with elements like Star Wars' lightsaber duels and droid designs, it signals that Tsukumo will offer a visually rich experience.
Star Wars Visions: Tsukumo is an independent story set in the post-Order 66 era
