Takashi Sano's Bakudan Manga Adaptation Ends

The Bakudan manga, which hit the shelves in May 2025 last year, has officially ended. Written by Takashi Sano, this manga was an adaptation of author Katsuhiro Go's novel of the same name. While Sano was previously known for works such as Sen wa Chikai no Mori no Moto ni, this time he undertook a novel adaptation.
This finale after exactly 13 months was a bit surprising for readers, as the series ended just after leaving its infancy. In an official statement, the publisher stated that the series had completed its planned story and thus concluded. No information about early cancellation or health issues was shared.
Katsuhiro Go's novel had carved a unique place in Japanese literature. The manga adaptation aimed to bring the visual world of the novel to a wider audience. The story, brought to life by Takashi Sano's illustrations, managed to create a loyal fanbase despite its short run. The final chapter bid farewell to readers in the magazine where it was published.
A manga adaptation ending in such a short time is not uncommon, especially for novel-based projects. Sometimes publishers and authors prefer a short but sweet journey to preserve the natural flow of the story. Bakudan falls into this category. For now, no new project by Takashi Sano has been announced, but fans are eagerly waiting for the master illustrator's next step.
